We also played in children’s peak and had a ride bullock cart. We started there at 6.00 p.m. and reached the school by 7.30 p.m. We were really tired. It was one of the most awesome experiences of our life.

Smt. K. Sunitha teacher of our institution attended the Globe Teacher’s Refreshers Training between 05.12.2013 & 08.12.2013. She was awarded with a Global teacher certificate on 11.12.2013 at a simple function held in Srinivasapuram community hall on 11.00 a.m. & 12.00 noon.
Globe means “GLOBAL LEARNING AND OBSERVATIONS TO BENEFIT THE ENVIRONEMENT”. The chief guest was Ms. April Wills from U.S.A. She is the chairperson of US consulate. The program was inaugurated by her on 05.12.2013.
Introduction of the students and teachers was given program on the environment was prepared by the students of some schools and it was presented in the program.
The student and teachers of Vijayawada School presented a power point project on the wellness and awareness of environment and use age of plastic bags and dumpage of garbage in the surroundings. Teachers from Orissa also presented some power projects of the testing they have done on PH of water, soil and weather reports also.
A group discussion was and the new trainers suggested their views in that regard and the doubts were cleared by the trainers. The trainers also suggested us how we can involve the neighbors in our program by explaining them and help the other people clear the garbage which in dumped in the surroundings. Drainage water should not come on the road for that cleaning of drainages in proper time. Then stopping the people from cutting down of trees i.e. a forestation should be done and deforestation should stopped.
The next we had theory classes on testing of water, soil, weather, height of the tree (calculation) and cloud testing etc. The last day was the field work and we were showed the equipments that are used to do the testing. Then we were taken to Indira park for all types of testing and experiments with thin we came to know how meteorology dept. Works for the whole day to give us the weather report. This also shows uis how the people can came to know about the natural calamities that would occur and how precautions can be taken to avopid the accidents or loss of properties or lives of human beings.
If I would get a chance once again to attend such type of GLOBE program I could never loose it and I also request you to attend the program atleast once. As I found it quick interesting and I am already practicing in our colony also. On the 10th Dec “Human Rights Day” was celebrated on 11th of Dec we had a small seminar.
On that day an old woman whose age is 106 yrs was our chief guest. She honoured us with the certificates and blessings by her. That woman was from a village and at her early age was working in Andhra Bank and she was the only lady who studied till 10th class and got the job. But due to her bad luck of the inconvenience caused by their elders she could not continue with it. With this small program I also came to know that these are people who still are struggling for the daily routine life and such people came to limelight only if people like “Swachchanda Prerana Samstha” can help them. I think we should also take such steps to improve good living of the people.

EXCESSIVE HOME WORK: POSSIBLE OTHER OPTIONS :Ch. Dharani ,IX Class -2014 -AJHS

EXCESSIVE HOME WORK Home work has historical been given to students to reinforce waht they learn at school, and ultimately to help them learn the material better. Too much home work is not helpful. Many teachers defend large amount of home work, claiming that it helps to prepare students for a world that is becoming increasingly competitive. Excessive amount of home works can be harmful to kids both physically and mentally. A lot of home work usually means a lot of books to carry. Carrying large amounts of weight daily at a young once age can do a lot of damage because bones are still in development stage. The U.S. Consumer product safety commission has reported that in 1999, more than 800 kids were treated in emergency wards for back – pack related injuries. Many of these injuries can lead to serious problems later in life including chronic shoulder, neck and back pain. The number of children who are overweight has doubled in the last two or three decades; currently one child out of five is overweight. These children are faced with more problems instead of learning and concentrating on their work, many children are developing low self-esteem and even depression because of teasing. The cases of obesity are growing most certainly due to lack of physical exercise. Homework also takes time away that a kid could be spending with his / her family. Rather than spending time bonding and buildings strong family relationships, parents and children argue over homework time is taken away from important aspects of daily life. This time is particularly precious in families with both the parent working. The time spent by such parents with their children is very limited. This time is spent by going out or doing other activities, that most families are not able to do because the kids don’t have time to take a break from their homework schedule. When assignments are given carelessly and frequently, it causes students to lose interest in the subject. Negative results can also occur when a student is not able to complete his or her homework. Many times they will resort to copying the homework, having others do their assignments, or cheating in tests. Bad habits such as these are likely to haunt kids through their lives and have an adverse effect on their moral judgment. These are the disadvantages of excessive homework. The use of home is effective when used by the rule ‘less is more’. Over whelming kids with loads of home work can cause them stress and possible physical injury. Home work takes away from the small amount of time kids get to spend with their parents and siblings. A limit on tier physical and social activities can also take a large toil on their lives, and could hinder their health and future relationships. Critically acclaimed, author Tamin Ansary reports that since 1981, the amount of homework given to an average sixth class child has increased by more than fifty percent. Many people claim that the increase in homework dates as far back as 1957. The new competition that emerged served as an incentive for schools to fly to increase the volume of the curriculum. The amount of homework increases with the increase in class. I am not in a opinion that homework should be abolished, but it should be limited. The homework should also be creative and interesting so that the child enjoys it. Ch. Dharani IX Class Ananda Jyothi High School

WOMEN PROTECTION ACTS AND POWER OF THE WOMEN TO CHANGE SOCIETY : U. Sowmya IX Class AJHS

WOMEN PROTECTION ACTS Children [child] means a person who of a male has not completed 21 years of age, and if female, has not completed 18 years of age. Girls and women are facing teasing and violence worldwide. It affects their mental and physical health. Most of the women can/t dare to move freely. Similarly girls are hesitating to go to schools. Teasing with words, torturing, insulting are common incidents around us. Such incidents are the evidence for violation of child and women rights. Even though government made many laws to control the violence, people are not aware of them. Even victims don’t know where and how to get protection and help. Violence of children and women rights is continuing in our society in various forms. It may be in family or working place. There is need to correct the attitude of the society which adversely children. I think that if proper implementation of the laws, made by the government would provide free and confident life to the children and women. In 1989, the UNO proposed international children charters on which 191 countries have signed our country is also one of them. These rights relate to everybody without discrimination. CHILDREN RIGHTS : • Below 18 years age are all children, without gender discrimination. • Protection from government for children rights. • Right to live. • Rights to live with parents as far as possible. • Right to gain knowledge and get awareness about the world through media like radio, newspapers, TV etc. • Right to protection from violence and harmful incidents. • Right to have good health and get medical care etc., Children, elders and everybody should be aware of WNO rights. Government also used to inform this to all. But Government were not informing this and trying to come before to solve these problems. The women have two problems child marriages and dowry. CHILD MARRIAGES : There is a prohibition of child marriage act, introduced in 2006. There is Disadvantages of Child marriages. • Provision for trafficking • Pushing the unmatured into family system. • Handicapped child births or dead child births and this will be harmful to mother. • Obstacle for study. • Become child labours for family maintenance. The immoral trafficking act in 1956 and amendments in 2006. Trafficking and selling of them for prostitution or encouraging them to enter into prostitution is a punishable crime. DIFFERENT FORMS OF TRAFFICKING : Sexual assault, activities against the law, fabourers and sadistic pleasure SEXUAL ASSAULT : a. Forced prostitution b. Social and religious prostitution [Devadasi, Jogini, Mathangi] etc. SADISTIC PLEASURE : a. Tying up the children on camels and make them run for entertainment. b. Marriages and adoption without their consent. DOWRY : The Dowry prohibition act, 1961. It is observed that after the marriage the bride is teased, scolded, abused, beated even sometimes cause for death or makes her commit suicide. All these offences cover in this act. The woman has to fight against all the problems that are affecting with her. If she is serious that she can change the society to progress further . So, women is the one and ultimate shakthi who can change total environment. National girl day is celebrated on 24th Jan. U. Sowmya IX Class Ananda Jyothi High School
